Man Claims Military Rank to Steal from Public

(Kampala) – A man has been arrested in connection with allegations of impersonating a military officer and attempting to extort members of the public.

The suspect, identified as Kakaire Yusuf, was apprehended by police from the Kampala Metropolitan East Headquarters on Jinja Road. He reportedly referred to himself as “Major Kakaire” or “Major Asiimwe” and falsely claimed to be an army officer associated with the Office of the President. These allegations include attempts to extort money and steal belongings from unsuspecting individuals.




Upon his arrest, Kakaire Yusuf was found in possession of several suspected stolen items, as well as multiple forged identification documents. This discovery has raised concerns about the extent of his alleged fraudulent activities.




The police have urged members of the public who may have encountered Kakaire or been affected by his actions to come forward. They are encouraged to reach out to the Kampala Metropolitan East headquarters for assistance and to report their experiences.




Kakaire is currently undergoing processing and will face formal charges in court once the investigation is completed.
