Kyankwanzi Coffee Thieves Caught Red Handed by Police Dog

Kyankwanzi Police successfully apprehended two suspects in a coffee theft case with the assistance of a police dog, leading to the recovery of stolen beans.

(Kyankwanzi) – The Uganda Police Force has reported a successful operation involving their canine unit in a recent coffee theft case. On October 31, 2024, Kyambeze Johnson from Masode Town Council filed a report concerning the theft, prompting an immediate response from the police.

The Kiboga canine team, equipped with a trained police dog named Kipis, sprang into action. The dog successfully guided officers to a residence believed to be linked to the crime. While one suspect, identified as Kawologoma, managed to escape, two other individuals, Najerere Joseph and Kawaga Richard, were found hiding under a bed in the home.




During the investigation, the apprehended suspects confessed that the stolen coffee was stored at the location for resale. Following their admission, police recovered three bags of coffee beans, which were confirmed to belong to the complainant.
