Coffee Thieves Tracked by Police Dog in Kamuli

Two suspects were arrested in Kamuli District after a police dog successfully tracked them down and led authorities to recover 100 kilograms of stolen coffee.

(Kamuli) – Police in Kamuli District have arrested two suspects, Kitamirike Fred and Mwanja David, in connection with the theft of 100 kilograms of coffee. The incident occurred on the night of November 13, 2024, in Bulira Zone, Butende Parish, Kitayunjwa Subcounty.

The arrests came after a complaint was lodged with the local police, prompting the deployment of a canine unit. The police dog, named Joy, played a pivotal role in the investigation. Joy successfully traced the scent from the crime scene to Kitamirike Fred’s residence. Upon questioning, Kitamirike led the police to Mwanja David, his alleged accomplice.




Authorities recovered the stolen coffee during the operation, bringing relief to the complainant and the community. The police commended Joy’s effectiveness in solving the case and emphasized the importance of community cooperation in tackling crime.




The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
