16 Suspects Charged in Murder of Arua DHO, Dr. Paul Drilaba

The Territorial Police in West Nile Region have charged 16 suspects in connection with the murder of Dr. Paul Drilaba, the District Health Officer of Arua.

On November 23, 2024, Dr. Drilaba was tragically killed in Oyeku Village, Ombokoro Parish, Ajia Subcounty, Arua District, while conducting a boundary demarcation with his land surveyor.




Following intensive investigations, the 16 suspects were formally charged in court on Thursday, December 5, 2024, and remanded to prison.




Due to the gravity of the charges, the case will be transferred to the High Court. The accused are facing charges of murder and aggravated assault related to the violent attack that resulted in the deaths of Dr. Drilaba and his companion.




Collins Asea, Police Spokesperson for the West Nile Region, assured the public that the Uganda Police Force, in collaboration with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), is committed to ensuring the case is prosecuted thoroughly.

Evidence collection is still underway to strengthen the case against those involved.

The police urge the community to remain calm and allow the legal process to unfold. The Uganda Police Force is committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice for Dr. Drilaba’s family and the community.
