A workshop and a garage in Kubbiri located between Mulago and Makerere were ravaged by a fire today, 19 December.

The blaze reportedly ignited around 4:30 am and has caused damage worth millions, destroying vehicles and furniture in the area.

The incident occurred behind Crow House in the same vicinity. Locals have speculated that the fire was ignited by an irate mob who were upset with a leader of their savings cooperative who absconded with their Christmas funds.

As of this report, firefighters have been attempting to extinguish the flames for two hours but have been unsuccessful, as the fire appears too intense for their efforts.

The true origin of this fire remains unclear, but updates will be provided as further information becomes available. This is not the first instance of fires breaking out in this crowded neighborhood, which is home to numerous carpentry workshops.

In spite of past incidents, it appears that both residents and officials have failed to implement fire safety measures.
