Alebtong District – The Omoro County MP aspirant in Alebtong District, Mr. Ziegler Bobson Ojede, has applauded the progress of the Parish Development Model (PDM) in the Lango sub-region, emphasizing transparency and warning against corruption and discrimination in the implementation of the program.
During an exclusive interview on Friday from Lira City, Ojede stressed the impact of PDM in the region, highlighting that beneficiaries from all the parishes are actively engaged in various enterprises under the government initiative aimed at uplifting Ugandans from poverty to a money economy through wealth creation and socio-economic transformation.
Bobson Ojede urged leaders to ensure transparency in managing funds, stressing that beneficiaries should not be charged to access the funds.
“Be transparent and ensure that the money reaches the beneficiaries. It is unacceptable to charge them. Discrimination based on political parties is also unacceptable. This program is for everyone,” Ojede said.
The PDM program is meant to uplift the 39% of Ugandans who are living a subsistence lifestyle under total poverty, enabling them to get involved in the cash economy, as emphasized by H.E. the President of the Republic of Uganda.
He emphasized the importance of preparing beneficiaries before disbursing funds to ensure they invest in enterprises aligned with the agricultural value chain. He also encouraged voluntary savings among beneficiaries to avoid misuse of the funds.
Ojede urged the beneficiaries of these funds to use the capital wisely to educate their children and also commended President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for coming up with such a transformative program aimed at lifting Ugandans from a hand-to-mouth economy.
“I want to thank President Museveni for this program. It has helped poor women, youth, and men to get capital to transform their livelihoods,” said Ojede.
Ojede expressed satisfaction with the program’s progress, noting that Lango sub-region leaders are supporting PDM despite political differences. “I’m happy that people are progressing well. The leaders of Lango have impressed me with their commitment to the program,” Ojede added.
