Obongi, Uganda – Police in Obongi district have arrested two men in connection with an attack on revelers at a disco hall in Dello village, Liwa Parish, Gimara sub-county, on Christmas Eve.
According to the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Obongi district, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, three people were injured during a Christmas Eve disco dance when a group of over ten thugs attacked patrons at the venue.
The injured individuals are identified as Kenyi Kasim, Amoru Abubaker, and Ijoi Mofat, all residents of Dello village.
The suspected thugs reportedly destroyed property, including the public sound system, and stole a battery before fleeing the scene.
RDC Hashaka, along with the District Internal Security Officer (DISO), visited the crime scene this morning, accompanied by police led by the district crime intelligence officer. He ordered the immediate arrest of the suspects involved in the assault, property destruction, and theft.
The victims reported to security officials that the suspected thugs used knives to injure them and even stole money collected from disco attendees.
RDC Hashaka strongly condemned the attack on innocent people enjoying the Christmas festivities. He assured the injured individuals that the suspects would be apprehended and brought to justice.
The RDC commended the local community for their vigilance in promptly reporting the incident to authorities, which led to the swift arrest of two of the assailants.
