Police in Mityana are hunting for a man who allegedly stabbed his friend to death after finding him having sexual relations with his wife in a coffee plantation.

According to the Wamala region police spokesperson, Superintendent of Police, Racheal Kawala, Edward Ssekiwunga, 48, had been invited to enjoy Christmas with the family of Peter Bafirawala at Busaata Kyamagemule village, Kalangaalo sub-county in Mityana district.

“It is alleged that on Christmas Day, Bafirawala invited the deceased, along with other people, to a Christmas party at his home. The deceased first went to Kalangalo to watch a football match and later proceeded to the suspect’s home at around 11 p.m. However, the suspect was already asleep, so the deceased decided to spend time with the suspect’s wife outside the house,” Kawala said.

“When the suspect woke up and realized that his wife was not around, he became suspicious and followed them. He found the deceased and his wife allegedly having sexual relations in the coffee plantation.”

Police say Bafirawala then stabbed both with a knife, inflicting serious injuries.

After the incident, both the suspect and his wife fled the scene.

“The deceased was discovered in the morning in a very critical condition in the plantation by a child who later alerted the parents. He unfortunately succumbed to the injuries while being rushed for treatment,” Kawala said.

Kawala said police visited and documented the scene. The deceased’s body, which bore stab wounds, was taken to Mityana hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

The suspect is currently on the run, but efforts to arrest him are underway.

Kawala said the suspect’s home has also been destroyed by an angry mob.
