The territorial Police in Kisoro District are investigating a suspected break-in and theft of drugs from Maregamo Health Center III in Maregamo village, Murora Sub-county.
The incident is reported to have occurred on January 19, 2025, at an unknown time.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, revealed that two nurses and a security guard were on night duty that evening. The following morning, January 20, they handed over to the incoming day shift staff.
However, at around 11:30 AM, it was discovered that the drug store had been broken into. The clinical officer in charge, Hylon Dusingize (27), was immediately informed and notified her district supervisors.
The matter was reported to Kisoro Central Police Station. Police, together with the district drug supervisor, visited the crime scene, processed and documented it, and recovered a cut padlock as evidence.
Two suspects, identified as Patrick Namara (the security guard) and Gadi Habwomuremye (a laboratory assistant), have been arrested for questioning. A search of the suspects’ premises yielded no recoveries.
