Nyakabande Sub-county FC emerged victorious in the Bufumbira East Constituency Roland Kanya Nkuruma Football Tournament, defeating Murora Sub-county FC 4-0 in the finals held at Mashaka Play Ground in Nyakabande Sub-county, Kisoro District.
Nyakabande received the championship trophy, along with a cash prize of UGX 3 million and medals. Murora Sub-county finished second, receiving UGX 1.5 million, while Kanaba placed third with UGX 1 million, and Chahafi received UGX 500,000.
Ronald Dukundane, the captain of the Nyakabande Football Team, expressed gratitude to Roland Kanya for his generous support, which included providing the players with football kits to enhance talent development in Bufumbira East.
Dukundane emphasized that the tournament provided a platform for players to win prizes and build valuable friendships.
Roland Kanya Nkrumah, the tournament’s main sponsor and a hopeful candidate for the Bufumbira East MP seat, called for unity and collaboration among constituents in the upcoming elections.
Kanya strongly condemned the use of ethnicity, religion, and culture in elections, dismissing allegations that he is unfamiliar with the Rufumbira language and is a stranger in Kisoro as mere political propaganda.
“Let’s all unite and collaborate in the forthcoming elections,” Kanya stated. “For the past 20 years, we have been under the leadership of a single candidate, which has negatively impacted service delivery in Bufumbira East.”
