Police in Sheema district have arrested two men in connection with the death of a three-month-old baby following a domestic dispute.
The suspects are Naboth Ahimbisibwe, 51, and Reagan Ntoreine, 19, both residents of Kamurinda Cell, Runyinya Parish, Kigarama Subcounty.
Police reports indicate that on the night of January 31, 2025, at approximately 9:00 PM, Ntoreine and his wife, Mariam Namaganda, had a heated argument that escalated into a violent altercation. Namaganda fled to a neighbor’s house for safety, leaving their infant at home.
Tragically, upon returning the following morning, she found the baby dead.
Ahimbisibwe and Ntoreine have been arrested to assist with the investigation. The baby’s body was taken to Kabwohe Health Centre IV Mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Police condemned the incident and urged community members to seek peaceful resolutions to domestic conflicts.
“It is deeply troubling that an innocent life has been lost in such circumstances,” a police spokesperson stated. “We urge families to seek support and intervention in cases of domestic violence.”
The suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues. Police have appealed to residents with any information about the incident to come forward.
Domestic violence remains a significant concern, and authorities continue to emphasize the importance of conflict resolution mechanisms to prevent such tragedies.
