Police Officer Takes His Own Life in Nabilatuk District

Joseph Ayolo, Nabilatuk — Police in Mt Moroto zone has launched an investigations in an incident where a police constable killed himself.

The incident that took place on Thursday morning at Anti stock theft Unit personnel detach in Lokwakwa village, Lorengedwat sub county in Nabilatuk district has left everyone in shock.
Micheal Longole the Karamoja regional police spokesperson confirmed the incident and identified the deceased by names  PC Wafula Nasur aged  46-year-old Samia tribesman from Kaserem in Kapchorwa District.
He said the deceased used his SMG rifle to take his own life.
“He ssid the incident is currently under investigation, and the scene has been visited by senior police officers”

“The Uganda Police Force is deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague, PC Wafula Nasur. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time,” Longole added.




According to Mr. Longole, it’s important to recognize the importance of mental health support, particularly for officers who often face high-stress situations. He suspects the deceased may have ended his life due to stress but said the investigation will determine the cause.




He urged members of the armed forces to seek advice from fellow officers or professionals whenever they feel stressed.
