Kole District, Uganda – A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred on the morning of 11th March 2025, claiming the life of a young man identified as Ogweng, a resident of Lobolobo in Kole District.
The victim, believed to be in his twenties, was struck by an unidentified motor vehicle along the Lira-Kamdini Highway, near Lobolobo Trading Center.
The accident, which took place in the early morning hours, left Ogweng dead at the scene.
The body was discovered lying on the road, prompting an immediate response from local authorities. The District Traffic Officer of Kole, accompanied by a team of officers, visited the scene to assess the situation. A sketch plan of the accident site was drawn up, and the body was subsequently transported to Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
At this time, the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. Investigators are working tirelessly to piece together what may have occurred, but there are currently no leads or clues as to the identity of the vehicle or its driver.
“The police are continuing their inquiry into the matter, urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward,” SP Okema reiterated. “The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to bring clarity to this tragic situation.
