Police in Kisoro District are actively searching for four armed suspects who attacked a shop in Mugomberero Trading Centre, Muramba Sub County, on the night of April 29, 2025.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 PM when the assailants reportedly stormed the business premises of Turinayo Michael. During the robbery, a shop attendant identified as Mucunguzi Kenneth, 30, a resident of Rushenyi Village, sustained a gunshot wound to the arm before the suspects fled with UGX 23 million.
Initial police reports indicate that the armed robbers discharged multiple gunshots to scare away people in the vicinity, facilitating their escape amidst the resulting panic.
Officers from Kisoro Police Station responded quickly to the scene and gathered evidence. Investigators recovered nine spent cartridges. The injured shop attendant, Mucunguzi Kenneth, was promptly taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
ASP Elly Maate, the police spokesperson for the Kigezi region, confirmed the robbery and shooting. He stated that investigations are currently underway, and assured the public that police are working diligently to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
“We strongly condemn this violent act and are committed to ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice,” ASP Maate affirmed.
Police are appealing to anyone with relevant information about the incident to come forward and report it to the nearest police station.
