Police in Kanungu District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder of Kakiiza Rogers, a 45-year-old resident of Nyakarambi Cell, Nyakatooma Parish, Kihanda Sub-county.
The body of Kakiiza was discovered on Saturday morning by Rosette Habasa, who was on her way to work when she found it dumped in Rwenkywera Stream.
Habasa immediately reported the incident to the Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO) of Kihanda Sub-county, Nyabugyingo Moses Barigye, who in turn notified officers at the Kihanda Police Post. Police promptly responded to the scene.
Elly Maate, the Police Spokesperson for the Kigezi Region, confirmed the incident. He stated that the police visited, processed, and documented the scene.
Maate added that relevant statements have been taken and a postmortem examination has been conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.
