Kole Fatal Accident Claims Life of 77-Year-Old Woman, Police Investigate

KOLE, Uganda – A 77-year-old woman, Ejang Hellen, a resident of Agege Lela village, Agege parish, Bala Sub-County, Kole District, died shortly after being involved in an accident on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 PM in Bar-ilwa cell, Akalo Town Council, along Bala Road in Kole District.




According to SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Police PRO North Kyoga Region, investigations reveal that on the said date and time, Obala Jaspher was riding motorcycle Reg No. UER 266B from Akalo towards Bala. He was carrying his biological mother, Ejang Hellen, as a passenger.




Upon reaching Bar-ilwa, Obala reportedly hit a pothole, lost control, and veered to the right side of the road, where he collided with another unidentified rider on a different motorcycle.




A team of traffic officers from Akalo Town Council police visited the crime scene and drew a sketch plan. The body of the deceased was transported to Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Motorcycle Reg No. UER 266B has been impounded and parked at Akalo Town Council police station, awaiting inspection by a Vehicle Inspector.

SP Okema advised riders to always observe speed limits on both murram and tarmac roads to prevent such road carnage.
