Bushenyi, Uganda – Police in Bushenyi District have launched an investigation into the tragic suspected suicide of a 13-year-old primary school pupil.
The deceased has been identified as Atwijukire Innocent, a Primary Five pupil at Rwatukwiire Primary School and a resident of Rweibaare Cell, Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality.
According to new Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Spokesperson SP Apollo Tayebwa, preliminary reports indicate that Atwijukire’s mother had gone to the school after suspecting him of stealing UGX 50,000.
Upon seeing his mother, Atwijukire reportedly fled the school premises and went into hiding. His lifeless body was later discovered hanging from an avocado tree near their home.
Police are continuing their investigations to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
