Mbarara City, Uganda – Police in Mbarara City are investigating a horrific double homicide after a mother and her young daughter were found stabbed to death in their rented room.
The victims have been identified as Kyomugisha Scovia, 42, a casual worker, and her three-year-old daughter, Amumpaire Gift. The brutal attack occurred around 3:00 AM on July 14, 2025.
According to SP Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson, Kyomugisha Scovia lived with her three daughters. Two of them, Nyamwiza Aminet, 10, and Evenitious Junior, 1 year and 5 months, survived the attack.
Preliminary investigations suggest a possible link to a prior incident involving Akampa Ambrose, alleged father of Evenitious Junior. On July 8, 2025, Akampa Ambrose was reportedly found attempting to kill the infant.
He was subsequently arrested and charged with attempted murder. Following this, friends of Akampa Ambrose allegedly began threatening Kyomugisha Scovia’s life.
The threats escalated on Saturday, July 12, 2025, when an individual identified as Black Ambrose allegedly attacked Kyomugisha and burned her clothes during the day.
Just two days later, in the early hours of July 14, the same suspect, now identified as Black Onesmus, reportedly attacked Kyomugisha in her room while she was sleeping with her daughters, tragically stabbing two of them to death.
Police have recovered the bodies, which have been transported to Mbarara Regional Referral Mortuary for postmortem examinations. Efforts to apprehend the suspect, Black Onesmus, are ongoing.
