Kampala – What was billed as a thunderous healing crusade has instead turned into a damp squib—literally. Despite being hyped on television adverts and given a boost by Miracle Centre’s Pastor Robert Kayanja, reports indicate that Kenyan preacher Pastor Ezekiel’s much-anticipated crusade in Uganda has flopped badly.
From the first day, videos circulating online showed a near-empty venue, with only a handful of born-again Christians braving the chairs. The situation went from bad to worse when heavy rains pounded the city, scattering even the few faithfuls who had turned up.
To add salt to the soggy wound, Bwaise-based Pastor Jackson Ssenyonga took to the pulpit, preaching fire against Ezekiel and branding him a “complice in the deaths of over 300 Kenyan believers.” With that kind of thunder from a local rival, it seems Ugandan worshippers decided to stay away.
Meanwhile, an undeterred Pastor Ezekiel was later captured on video “cursing Satan” for the flop, insisting the devil was behind the empty seats. But critics argue no amount of demon-binding could rescue the crusade once word of Ssenyonga’s accusations spread.
For now, the self-styled “Man of God” will be leaving Uganda with more questions than converts. As one netizen on social media joked: “Even the rain received more believers than Ezekiel at that crusade.”
