Arsenal have reached a verbal agreement with Crystal Palace to sign forward Eberechi Eze in a deal worth £67.5 million, beating north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to his signature.
According to Uk Based Newspaper Goal Mirror, the deal includes a guaranteed £60 million fee, plus £7.5 million in performance-related add-ons.
Tottenham had been considered favourites to sign the 26-year-old until just 24 hours ago, but sources close to the negotiations revealed that Arsenal accelerated talks following Kai Havertz’s injury, which forced the club to pursue immediate attacking reinforcements.
Eze himself played a crucial role in the decision, reportedly preferring Arsenal’s project over a move to Spurs.
This has caused frustration within the Tottenham camp, as the club believed it had reached an advanced understanding with both Palace and the player.
Eze is set to undergo his medical on Friday, following Crystal Palace’s match tonight. Personal terms are not expected to be an issue, with discussions already in advanced stages.
