In Soroti District, two men have been summoned by the police following a brawl over a woman. The men, aged 38 and 48, have been requested to provide statements through their LC one chairperson, as per Mr. James Etidu, a police officer at Awoja Police Post. The altercation involved a 42-year-old woman.
The incident took place in Amuda Village, Aukot Sub-county, Soroti District, on October 1. The men, both residents of Amuda Village, engaged in a physical fight that escalated to the use of daggers and handheld hoes, all over a woman.
The altercation began when one of the men allegedly discovered the other engaged in a sexual encounter with the woman, whom he claimed was his wife. This encounter occurred in a house rented by another resident.
As a result of the brawl, both men sustained injuries and were subsequently admitted to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital. Hospital records indicate that one of the men suffered two fractured ribs and deep head wounds, while the other was in critical condition with a deep wound on the left side of his chest. Both have since been discharged from the hospital.
The resolution of this dispute is pending. Mr. Etidu stated that the two men have been summoned for a roundtable discussion, along with the host, and the outcome depends on their mutual agreement. If they are unable to reach an agreement and choose to pursue the matter in court, their case will be forwarded accordingly.
In the midst of this conflict, the clan of Igoria Oiko suspended the resident who rented the house to one of the men found in the compromising situation with the woman. The woman involved has reportedly gone into hiding since being caught red-handed with another man.
