Thirdway Alliance Party Leader and lawyer, Ekuru Aukot, has expressed his dissatisfaction with Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura’s recent remarks about Aukot’s petition against the State’s plan to deploy police officers to Haiti. Aukot accused Mwaura of making false statements during an interview and claimed that Mwaura had lied about contacting him to discuss the petition.
During the same interview, Isaac Mwaura assured the public that the government is committed to following all legal procedures before sending police officers to Haiti. He mentioned that a court order had been issued due to Ekuru Aukot’s legal actions, and he emphasized the need for transparency and explanation to the Kenyan public. He also highlighted that the government would seek approval from both houses of Parliament before deploying officers to Haiti, as it’s a necessary part of the deployment process.
Isaac Mwaura further disclosed the government’s intention to provide specialized training to enhance the capabilities of the police officers, ensuring they are well-prepared for their mission. This move comes after the High Court issued conservatory orders on October 9, preventing the government from deploying police officers to Haiti or any other country until the case is heard on October 24.
Isaac Mwaura was recently appointed as the government spokesperson in a cabinet reshuffle by President Ruto.
