Dokolo District, Uganda – While addressing thousands of people at Dokolo Technical, Dokolo Town Council, Dokolo District, His Excellency Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni stated that “because the drugs are not stolen in Congo or South Sudan but they are in Uganda, close monitoring by some RDCs is not being performed to the fullest. Hence, he is preferring to think critically to deploy the religious leaders to monitor theft of drugs in Health Centre IIIs.”
His Excellency said he is still yet to decide and think critically whether to deploy the people of God in the Health Centre IIIs, because the people of God will not steal but do the needful to monitor if the drugs are stolen in the Health Centre III.
He, however, was not satisfied with the answer given to him by the Office of the RDC Dokolo, who said the drugs are not being stolen in Dokolo health centres.
“All homesteads should engage in wealth creation for food security, and now that we have 100 million shillings under PDM in all the parishes, we should be able to refund them after three years in respective parish SACCOs, after having realised profit after investing using the money as Parish PDM SACCO members.”
He urged all families to join the money economy using the PDM program, adding that, “We shall also continue with other interventions in the coming government, because we will put 115 million shillings for PDM per parish and 15 million shillings for the leaders of the SACCO, because they have not been borrowing the PDM SACCO money,” said President Museveni.
In a related wealth creation strategy, the President called upon the people to adopt and copy from his fish pond near the Presidential Skilling Hub in Lira University by putting up fish ponds and having real production of fish within a short period of time. Museveni Kaguta talked of the 7 points achieved so far by the NRM government since 1986.
Number one of the seven points achievements is peace in Uganda, followed by several developments noted so far — giving the example of the road from Soroti to Lira, and the electricity in all these places, simply because when the NRM came to power, there was no electricity in areas like Dokolo.
The Fountain of Honour said that way back in 1979–1980, he was the Vice Chairman of the Military Commission and led a delegation to Iraq to President Saddam Hussein. However, while in Iraq, a Minister of Saddam Hussein asked them how many telephones they had in Uganda, and they said only 40,000. But the young minister was surprised, yet Iraq had 800,000 phones.
Mr Museveni added that Uganda has 28 million telephones, up from 23,000.
“We are going to do the road from Dokolo–Amolatar–Namasale, and Lira–Aloi–Apala–Baralegi will be worked on,” according to His Excellency the President.
The main problem is that 68 percent of the people in Uganda are working for the stomach (“tic me yic keken”, in Lango language).
H.E. President Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni urged the people of Dokolo and the Lango sub-region to vote NRM flag bearer in the forthcoming general elections of 2026.
