AMOLATAR, Uganda – Hundreds of drivers across the Lango Sub-region are set to benefit from a free eye screening and spectacle distribution exercise scheduled for Tuesday, 19th May 2026, at the Amolatar Taxi Stage terminal, Uhuru Bar.
The three-day medical outreach, organized by Amolatar Taxi Stage Uhuru Bar in partnership with Lira Regional Referral Hospital, will commence at 9:00 a.m. The exercise is exclusively for drivers and aims to improve road safety by addressing vision-related challenges.
Mr. Kizito Okao, CEO of Amolatar Taxi Stage Uhuru Bar, who also serves as the North Kyoga regional coordinator for defensive driving, confirmed the initiative during a press briefing on Sunday.
“This service is completely free for all drivers in Lango. We urge everyone to turn up in large numbers and take advantage of this opportunity,” Okao said.
He further encouraged drivers to consistently adhere to traffic rules and regulations, noting that good vision is a critical component of defensive driving.
The partnership with Lira Regional Referral Hospital ensures that professional optometrists will conduct the screenings, and where necessary, drivers will be provided with prescription spectacles at no cost.
Organizers expect a high turnout and have assured that adequate arrangements have been made to manage the process smoothly.
Drivers seeking more information are advised to contact the Amolatar Taxi Stage terminal management or report directly to Uhuru Bar on the day of the exercise.
