KABALE — Kigezi HomeBoyz Football Club have appointed experienced Ugandan coach Mutyaba Joseph Harold as their new Head Coach ahead of the club’s historic maiden season in the Uganda Premier League.
Mutyaba joins the club on a two-year renewable contract and replaces Sadiq Sempigi, whose tenure came to an end after guiding the club through the FUFA Big League campaign.
The appointment comes at a crucial moment for Kigezi HomeBoyz, who are preparing for their first-ever appearance in Uganda’s top-flight football league. The club earned promotion after finishing fourth in the FUFA Big League with 51 points from 30 matches.
Mutyaba, 54, arrives with vast experience in Ugandan football, both as a player and coach. He is a CAF A licensed tactician and also holds CAF B and CAF C coaching licences.
His coaching career spans more than two decades and includes spells at Soltilo Bright Stars FC, Tooro United FC, Onduparaka FC, Entebbe FC, Lweza FC, Masavu FC and Malindi Sports Club in Zanzibar.
He is credited with guiding Lweza FC to promotion to the Regional League, leading Kabale Good Samaritan FC to the FUFA Big League and helping BUL FC improve its league performance during his time as assistant coach.
Before moving into coaching, Mutyaba enjoyed a distinguished playing career with some of Uganda’s biggest clubs, including Express FC, SC Villa and URA FC. He also played professionally outside Uganda and featured for the Uganda Cranes, earning more than 40 international caps.
Kigezi HomeBoyz said the appointment reflects the club’s ambition as they enter a new chapter in the Uganda Premier League.
“Everyone at Kigezi HomeBoyz FC welcomes Mutyaba to the club and wishes him success as he leads the team into an exciting new era and our first-ever Uganda Premier League season,” the club said in a statement.
Mutyaba’s immediate task will be to assemble a competitive squad, strengthen key areas and prepare the team for the demands of top-flight football.
Kigezi HomeBoyz will join the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League alongside fellow promoted sides Blacks Power FC, Kataka FC and Ntugasaze FC.
His appointment is expected to bring experience, tactical discipline and strong player development to a club eager to establish itself among Uganda’s elite football teams.
