Lira City, Uganda – Lipton Palace Hotel, located in Obutuwelo Cell, Ojwina Ward, Lira City West Division, was officially opened on Sunday, September 14, 2025. The hotel boasts standard guest rooms and a restaurant, adding a modern touch to hospitality in Lira City.

Mr. Olipa Tonny, commonly known as “Lipton,” expressed deep appreciation to his mother for raising him in a disciplined manner, which he credits for his success. Tonny stated that the public can now access the hotel’s services at affordable rates.

The hotel is expected to attract travelers, tourists, and other guests. According to Geoffrey Etwop, a prominent business tycoon in Lira City, Lipton Palace Hotel is already being seen as a quality hangout spot with a conducive environment and modern standards of accommodation.

While officiating the opening ceremony, the Minister of Health and Lira City Woman MP, Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, urged residents to focus on developing their families and supporting their neighbors to improve the overall standard of living.

“Go home and sleep—you will not manage Dr. Aceng Ocero,” she said, emphasizing the importance of strong leadership and resilience.

Hon. Dr. Aceng encouraged residents to uplift those who contribute to their growth, stressing the need for collective progress. She applauded Tonny for his investments, particularly for establishing a well-constructed facility that provides decent accommodation.

She further urged the business community in Lira City to remain united, work as a team, and contribute meaningfully to the city’s development.

Additionally, she congratulated the entire NRM structure during this political season and called for unity among members. She warned against voting for divisive leaders, stating:

“Elect leaders who are pro-people, not those who practice pull-me-down politics.”

Mr. Ojuka Fred, a retired RISO officer who formerly served in the Teso region, also spoke at the event. He called on the community to support Olipa Tonny so that his business can grow to the next level.
