A publication by eagle.co.ug has made allegations suggesting that Dr. Chris Mukiza, the Executive Director of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), was involved in a supposed shooting incident during an altercation at a hotel in Kololo involving Rubanda West MP Moses Kamuntu.
These claims are unverified and have not been supported by any credible evidence.
The report has since been widely circulated on social media platforms such as Facebook and Phoenix, where it continues to generate attention despite concerns about its accuracy and sensational nature.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire has confirmed that no such shooting-related incident has been reported at any police station, further undermining the credibility of the allegations.
It is also clarified that Dr. Mukiza does not drive himself in official government vehicles. He is always accompanied by an assigned driver, and his security is handled by a professional team responsible for his protection.
The additional claims that he was intoxicated and attempted to use a firearm against MP Kamuntu are firmly rejected and do not align with his established professional conduct and public service record.
The public is urged to rely on verified information from official sources and to treat unconfirmed reports with caution to prevent the spread of misinformation.
