Ugandan music legend Dr. Jose Chameleone has revealed why he continues to support President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, saying the Head of State personally came to his aid when he was critically ill.

While performing in Kween District on Tuesday, where President Museveni held a rally to conclude his campaign trail in the Sebei sub-region, Chameleone — real name Joseph Mayanja — said his loyalty to the President is rooted in gratitude.

“The President treated me when I was bedridden, not once but twice,” Chameleone told the cheering crowd. “That’s why I will always stand with him and make sure he wins his ninth term. He is a good man who has done a lot for us.”

The Leone Island boss encouraged residents of Kween to vote overwhelmingly for President Museveni and other NRM flag bearers, saying the country needs continuity and stable leadership.

“I have known the President for many years,” he added. “He is the only one fit to lead this nation and continue the progress we are seeing.”

Chameleone was flanked by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, who praised artists like him for using their influence to promote unity and peace.

It should be remembered that Chameleone has long been part of the President’s campaign efforts. He was one of the musicians behind the famous Tubonga Nawe project in 2015, which became an anthem for Museveni’s re-election campaigns in 2016, 2021, and now 2025/26.

The singer has also shown his commitment by purchasing a bus branded Border to Border, which he uses to entertain and mobilize supporters for the President across the country.
