Museveni Endorses Mawanda in Bushenyi, Calls for Four-Hectare Farming Model Adoption

Bushenyi, Uganda President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged the people of Bushenyi District to adopt modern farming practices as a sustainable path out of poverty, highlighting the importance of the four-hectare production model.

While addressing residents at Kizinda Playgrounds on Wednesday, December 2, 2025, during his campaign tour of the Ankole subregion, Museveni emphasized that agriculture remains central to household income growth and national development.

The President said that if households effectively utilized their land for enterprises such as coffee, fruits, dairy, and poultry, they would achieve long-term financial stability and contribute to broader economic transformation.

During the rally, President Museveni also officially endorsed several NRM flag bearers ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Among them were Hon. Mawanda Maranga Michael — Igara East MP and Director of Mobilisation for the Patriotic League of Uganda, Kyampene Cohen for Igara West, and Hon. Annet Mugisha Katusiime, the Woman MP for Bushenyi District. He handed each candidate the party flag as a symbol of his support.

After the Bushenyi engagement, Museveni travelled to Sheema District to conclude the day’s activities. Today, his campaign trail continued in Mitooma and Rubirizi districts as he seeks to consolidate support in the Ankole region.
