Residents of Agwel Parish in Puranga Sub-county are demanding better roads and honest leadership ahead of the 2026 general elections. During a community meeting held in Lacekomyela Village on Thursday, April 24, locals expressed frustrations with poor infrastructure and unfulfilled promises from their leaders, calling for change through the ballot.

Luwita Raymond, who is eyeing the parliamentary seat under the NRM ticket, received strong support from residents who believe he represents a fresh start. Speaking at the gathering, Luwita emphasized the urgent need to fix roads and improve public infrastructure in Agwel and surrounding areas.

“Infrastructure is the foundation of development. Our roads are in terrible condition, and this is affecting trade, health, and education. We need leaders who can advocate effectively,” Luwita stated.

He called on the community to develop a clear list of demands to present to all aspiring leaders. “Accountability starts with the voters. Let’s task our leaders with clear agendas,” he said.

David Owor Okot, Chairperson of Agwel Parish, said he hopes Luwita makes it through the NRM primaries and starts addressing the concerns of the people. “He has shown commitment. We believe he can be the voice we need,” Okot said.

Nyeko Charles Obwoya Aluku, the NRM Chairperson, pledged support for all party flag bearers and promised that this time, the party would front capable candidates. “Last time, we fell short. This time, we will send someone with the ability to win and serve,” Nyeko said.
