Watoto Church has announced a wide-ranging safety and mobility plan ahead of its highly anticipated Christmas Cantata 2025, partnering with city authorities, security agencies, and private sector players to ensure smooth movement, public order, and attendee safety.
With thousands of worshippers and revellers expected, the church has teamed up with the Uganda Police and other security organs to manage traffic flow, crowd control, and emergency response throughout the festive events.
The Christmas Cantata activities will run from 17 to 22 December 2025, beginning with the City’s Night Carols and the lighting of the tallest Christmas tree in Uganda on 17 December, followed by the Son of God production from 19 to 22 December.
Addressing journalists during a press briefing, Watoto Church said the 2025 events will be hosted at Old Kampala Senior Secondary School, a venue selected for its spaciousness and accessibility.
“Our priority this year is the safety, comfort, and convenience of everyone who attends,” said Pastor Julius Rwotlonyo, Senior Pastor and Team Leader at Watoto Church Ministries.
“We desire to create a safe and joyful experience for every person who attends this year’s Cantata. With strong support from the Uganda Police and other city authorities, we are confident that everyone will enjoy attending Christmas Cantata with peace and ease.”
The Uganda Police welcomed the collaboration, confirming that comprehensive security arrangements are in place. These will include patrol teams, traffic officers, crowd-control personnel, and emergency response units deployed throughout the Cantata period.
“We are committed to working with Watoto Church to ensure that all events are secure and peaceful,” said Luke Oweyesigyire, Public Relations Officer for the Kampala Metropolitan Police Area.

“Our teams will be on the ground throughout the Cantata to provide safety, guide traffic, and support the public wherever needed.”
To ease transportation, Watoto Church has also partnered with SafeBoda, which will provide safe and affordable mobility to and from the venue. The company will offer special discounted rides for all trips to and from Old Kampala Senior Secondary School between 17 and 22 December.
“We are excited to support this year’s Christmas Cantata by providing safe, reliable, and discounted rides for everyone,” said Mukooli Calvin Brand, Events and Activations lead at SafeBoda.
“We believe this partnership will make it easier for people to enjoy the celebrations without worrying about transport.”

Medical services will be provided by Karis Medical, which has committed UGX 50 million in in-kind support for the five-day event. Medical teams will be stationed on-site daily to offer first aid, blood pressure checks, anthropometry services, and health consultations.
“We’re providing UGX 50,000,000 in-kind services for the 5-day event,” said Andy Kristian Agaba of Karis Medical.
“In addition to having our medical staff on site daily, our doctors will be available to answer health-related questions. We will also provide opportunities for families, individuals, and small business owners to sign up for discounted healthcare savings plans, as well as wellness vouchers to be won as giveaways.”

With these partnerships in place, Watoto Church has assured the public that the 2025 Christmas Cantata will be a safe, well-organised, and family-friendly celebration, expected to be one of the largest Christmas events in Uganda this year.
For over 41 years, Watoto Church has served communities through spiritual ministry and practical support. The church currently reaches more than 35,000 attendees across 18 campuses in Uganda and South Sudan, continuing its mission of sharing God’s love and transforming lives.
