A 35-year-old bank employee, who was reported missing last week, has been found deceased in her residence located in Nairobi’s South B neighborhood.
The bank employee had gone missing since the previous weekend when she did not show up for work. Concerned colleagues raised the alarm as she, living alone, did not respond to their calls or messages.
It is unclear at this time if her colleagues had reported her as a missing person to the police.
Based on initial information from a police source who spoke with local press, authorities forced entry into her South B apartment as it was locked from the inside.
The 35-year-old was employed as a cash officer at the bank.
During the initial investigation, a used syringe was discovered beside her partially unclothed body. The authorities have initiated inquiries to determine the cause of her death.
The deceased’s body has been transferred to a morgue. No signs of defensive wounds were found, but there was evidence of blood around her mouth.
The exact contents of the syringe remain unknown, and it has been taken for further examination.
Police have indicated that an autopsy will be conducted to establish the cause of her death.
Should the investigation reveal any signs of foul play, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) homicide division will be called upon to unravel the circumstances surrounding her demise.
Authorities are still working to determine the last moments of the banker and identify the last individuals with whom she interacted and spoke.
