Government troops in Nigeria’s northern region successfully conducted operations resulting in the elimination of 50 suspected gunmen.
According to military spokesperson Edward Buba, 114 individuals were also detained during these operations in the northern region. The military managed to rescue 49 kidnapping victims in the northeastern part of the country, and some leaders of Boko Haram and the Islamic State’s West Africa Province surrendered, citing the military’s superior firepower as a reason.
Ongoing armed attacks have posed a significant security threat in Nigeria’s northern and central regions, leading to fatalities and kidnappings in recent months.
