President Yoweri Museveni has confirmed notorious Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terror commander Meddie Nkalubo was among those killed in last week’s airstrike.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has issued a warning about potential retaliatory actions by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels after military airstrikes targeted their camps in eastern Congo. The strikes took place over the weekend, with fighter-bombers conducting the second airstrike on ADF hideouts in various locations on the western border of Bundibugyo-Semiliki side. This operation resulted in casualties among ADF members. The first airstrike had occurred earlier this month, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Museveni noted that as a result of these strikes, ADF terrorists were fleeing Congo, where they had sought refuge, and re-entering Uganda, attempting to carry out random terrorist acts. The military reported that a group of approximately five armed ADF rebels had attacked a civilian’s trailer truck carrying onions in the western Ugandan district of Kasese on Friday, resulting in the deaths of two individuals.

The President urged the public to remain vigilant and report any unfamiliar individuals in their areas to the nearest police authorities. He emphasized that even relatives who had been absent for an extended period and suddenly returned should be reported, as they might be affiliated with the terrorists.

Since November 2022, Ugandan and Congolese troops have been collaborating to combat the ADF rebel group.
