Amolatar District Leaders Begin Induction Training to Boost Service Delivery

AMOLATAR – Amolatar District Local Government has launched a three-day induction programme for its newly elected councillors and technical staff, aimed at enhancing service delivery and preventing conflicts among leaders.

The training, currently underway at Alpha Resort Hotel in Lira City, brings together district councillors and technical officers for intensive orientation on their roles and responsibilities over the next five years.

Amolatar District LC5 Chairperson, Morish Ogwal Omara, said the programme is designed to equip leaders with essential knowledge to effectively execute their duties and implement the district’s development agenda.

“This training will help reduce misunderstandings among leaders by ensuring we share a common understanding of council operations and development priorities,” Ogwal said.

The induction comes just weeks after the new Amolatar District Council assumed office on May 27, 2026, and has already identified key priorities under its five-year development plan.

Reverend Johnson Ogema, who facilitated the training, noted that many newly elected leaders require proper orientation to better understand their responsibilities and improve governance at the local government level.

Former Lira District Speaker Martin Ocen Odyek, also a facilitator, welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that it would significantly improve the performance of the new council.

Amolatar District Deputy Speaker Naume Apollo said the training would strengthen teamwork and coordination between political and technical leaders, a critical factor for successful service delivery.

Ogwal urged other districts in the Lango sub-region to organize similar capacity-building programmes for their councillors and technical officers to enhance local governance across the region.

The induction programme is expected to conclude on Thursday, with leaders returning to their respective wards equipped with improved skills for effective council operations.
