Pader District – As a concerned leader and father, Aruu North County NRM MP aspirant, Mr. James Kidega Nabbinson, commonly known as “Nock,” has advised children who are home for the holiday break to always support their parents as they prepare for Christmas Day and enjoy their time off.
RDC Nock emphasized the need to prioritize children in development, recognizing their crucial roles and impact on the future of Pader District and Uganda as a whole. He highlighted the importance of helping family and community during the holiday period.
“The holiday is here, and as parents in Pader District, particularly in Aruu North constituency, let’s take up our responsibilities by spending time with our children, sharing both good and bad experiences, and engaging them in proper social behaviors,” Nock said. “We should focus on boosting their academic performance, setting new goals, and guiding them on their journey to a successful life. Let’s help them discover their passions and abilities.”
He advised parents, especially in Pader District, to engage their children in productive activities such as bricklaying and other meaningful domestic work at home, so they can contribute to the family. “They should also understand the dangers of associating with bad company. I encourage parents to limit their children’s visits to friends, relatives, and markets, as these places may expose them to harmful influences and strangers with unknown intentions.”
Mr. Kidega, who also serves as the RDC of Agago District and is currently consulting for his 2026 bid, urged parents and guardians to involve their children in important discussions on topics like investments, religious teachings, money-making ventures, farming, climate change, health, and good behavior. “These conversations will help them build their social and economic growth,” he said. “Also, make sure they receive a well-balanced diet to give them a break from the school menu, especially vegetables and other foods that each parent can afford. This contributes to their physical and intellectual development.”
He further advised children to be cautious of strangers during the Christmas season. “Respect your parents and elders in the community, avoid bad peers, and dress appropriately so that you are not mistaken for an adult by predators. Both adolescent girls and boys should be mindful of how they present themselves. Also, engage in academics, study tours, or help your parents with home activities.”
Nock emphasized the power of positive words from parents. “What you say about your child is what they think about themselves. As a parent, you are the first person to shape their identity. Your words are powerful, whether positive or negative. Be selective with your words, and never miss an opportunity to make a child feel better about themselves. When they feel good, their whole demeanor changes. They learn better, behave better, and act better toward others.”
He concluded by urging the community to encourage and mentor children to build a bright future. “Let’s develop them positively and transform the future of our children.”
Many voters in Pajule, Atanga, Laguti, Acholibur, Lata Ya, and Angagura sub-counties have described Nock as a competent leader who is hopeful of winning the 2026 general elections.
