President Yoweri Museveni has dropped several senior ministers and state officials in a major Cabinet reshuffle announced on Tuesday evening.
The changes, which form part of the new Cabinet line-up for the 2026–2031 term, saw a number of high-profile figures left out of government, signaling a significant reorganisation within the administration.
Among the notable exits is Gen. David Muhoozi, who served as State Minister for Internal Affairs, while Gen. Jeje Odongo has been replaced as Minister of Foreign Affairs. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Henry Okello Oryem was also dropped from the new Cabinet list.
Other prominent figures left out include former Energy Minister Ruth Nankabirwa, former Trade Minister Francis Mwebesa, former State Minister Evelyn Anite, and former Government Chief Whip Hamson Obua.
Veteran politician Moses Ali was also excluded from the new line-up after serving as Second Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business.
Additional officials dropped in the reshuffle include Kenneth Omona, Muruli Mukasa, Moriku Kaducu, Obiga Kania, Christine Adoa, Hellen Asamo, Florence Nambozo, Peter Lokeris, Matia Kasaija, Betty Amongi, Jacob Oboth-Oboth Cheptoris, Raphael Magyezi, and Bwino Kyakulaga.
Sources indicate that some of the dropped officials could be assigned other government duties, including diplomatic and advisory roles.
The reshuffle has introduced several new faces while retaining a number of experienced leaders in key ministries, as President Museveni shapes his administration for the new term.
