The Uganda Commercial Fish Farmers Association (UCFFA) has urged the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries (MAAIF) to address a significant floating wetland in Lake Victoria. In a letter dated Monday, Mr. Dick Lufafa, writing on behalf of the UCFFA president, highlighted the presence of the floating wetland between Luzira in Kampala and Koome in Mukono District.

The UCFFA emphasized the urgent need for action to remove this mass of wetland to prevent potential threats to floating fish cages, navigation, and power generation on Lake Victoria.
