Singer Jose Chameleone expressed appreciation for veteran media personality Rasta Rob, also known as Robert Ogwal, during the Utake Nyama na Chuppa event held at Jahazi Pier in Munyonyo on Sunday, October 8, 2023. The event brought together seasoned artists from East African countries.

While performing, Chameleone paused and invited Rasta Rob, present in the audience, to join him on stage. During this moment, he praised Rasta Rob for his significant contributions to the development of Uganda’s music industry, particularly in the early careers of the “Big 3” artists – Chameleone, Bebe Cool, and Bobi Wine – and the wider music community.

Chameleone reminisced about the fierce competition for airplay during their early years, often dominated by Congolese music. He credited individuals like Rasta Rob for assisting them in securing occasional slots on playlists and providing valuable guidance.

Chameleone shared an anecdote about Rasta Rob once summoning him to Dungeon Studios in Makindye, a Kampala suburb, before proceeding to one of Rasta Rob’s residences in Namasuba. He emphasized that his pride should not be misunderstood, as it was a trait he had learned from his early associates, with Rasta Rob being one of those influential figures.
