Chinese investors have expressed admiration for Uganda’s State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU) online portal, recognizing it as a unique platform in Africa for facilitating investment and providing clarity on the investment environment.

The Electronic Investor Protection Portal (EIPP), established by SHIPU under the leadership of Col. Edith Nakalema, garnered praise from Chinese investors who lauded its effectiveness and comprehensiveness. They noted that such initiatives are rare in regions like Southeast Asia and South America, making Uganda stand out as an attractive destination for investment.

Launched by President Yoweri Museveni on December 13, 2023, the EIPP (protection.statehouseinvest.go.ug) serves as an online reporting platform where investors, both local and foreign, can address their concerns and receive timely solutions.

During a meeting at SHIPU offices in Kampala, Chinese investors, including CEOs of Bisu Industries Limited and Claut Industries Ltd Uganda, commended Col. Nakalema for her efforts in facilitating investment opportunities in Uganda. They particularly highlighted the professionalism and efficiency of SHIPU in addressing investor inquiries and resolving issues promptly.

Zeng Rong Yao, CEO of Bisu Industries Limited, expressed gratitude to President Museveni and the SHIPU team, emphasizing their dedication to fostering a conducive investment climate in Uganda. He pledged to promote Uganda as an investment destination among his peers in Southeast Asia and South America, citing the country’s potential for growth and development.

Col. Nakalema welcomed the positive feedback from Chinese investors and emphasized the importance of showcasing Uganda’s unique investment opportunities to the world. She underscored the role of collaboration between government institutions, such as the Ministry of Lands and Uganda Investment Authority, in facilitating investment projects.

The success story of attracting Chinese investors to Uganda reflects the effectiveness of initiatives like the EIPP in guiding and supporting investors. Col. Nakalema expressed optimism that with continued efforts, Uganda will become a hub for Foreign Direct Investment in the region.

The allocation of land at Jinja Industrial Park to Bisu Industries Limited, facilitated by SHIPU and government agencies, marks a significant milestone in boosting Uganda’s economy. Col. Nakalema commended the Investments Minister and Uganda Investment Authority for their efficient work in this regard.

The State House Investors Protection Unit’s Electronic Investor Protection Portal (EIPP) serves as a vital resource for investors, providing guidance, reporting mechanisms, and enforcement measures. President Museveni commended Col. Nakalema for her initiative in supporting Uganda’s mission for prosperity through investment and entrepreneurship.
