The territorial police in Apac District are holding Okello Solomon on allegations of causing the death of Ekwaro Ambrose from Aminteng East cell, Aminteng ward, Agulu Division in Apac Municipality. This follows a report registered by Oruk James, aged 53, from the same location.

According to SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) of North Kyoga Region, it is alleged that Ekwaro Ambrose (now deceased), 25 years old and a resident of Bar Lwala “B” cell, Western ward, Inomo Town Council in Kwania District, followed Awidi Monica to her husband’s home on January 1, 2024, at around 20:30 hours.

Awidi Monica’s husband, Okello Solomon, became suspicious, called Awidi’s parents to verify Ekwaro Ambrose’s relationship, and they confirmed that he was not their brother-in-law but Awidi’s ex-boyfriend. This revelation annoyed Okello Solomon, who then engaged in a physical altercation with Ekwaro Ambrose, urging him to leave his home. Ekwaro Ambrose sustained injuries and was later rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on January 2, 2024, by the medical staff.

Initially, a case of attempted murder was registered at Apac police station, but it has now been reclassified as murder. SP Jimmy Patrick Okema stated that the suspect, Okello Solomon, has been arrested and is in custody for statement recording. His file will be compiled and submitted to RCSA on charges of murder.

The body was conveyed to Apac Hospital’s Mortuary, where a postmortem was conducted. The police expressed deep regret over this unfortunate incident, emphasizing that the violent actions were not justified, according to SP Okema.
