Businessman Shot Dead by Armed Robber in Agago District

AGAGO, Uganda – A businessman was shot dead by an unknown gunman on Tuesday evening in Kalongo Town Council, Agago District, in what police suspect was a robbery gone wrong.

The victim, identified as Morish Ocana, was attacked at around 7pm moments after locking up his shop. According to James Nabinson Kidega, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Agago, the deceased was carrying a bag believed to contain money when the assailant confronted him.

“The armed robber demanded the bag, but the deceased declined to offer it,” Kidega said. The attacker, who is believed to have been armed with a pistol, then shot Ocana and escaped with the bag.

Security forces have since been deployed along all entry and exit points in the area, and a search operation is underway to track down the perpetrator.

Authorities have not yet established whether the gunman acted alone or had accomplices hiding nearby. No arrests have been reported so far.

Residents of Kalongo Town Council have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security personnel. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
