Drug Dealers Arrested in Mukono Black Spots

A joint security operation in Mukono led to the arrest of 36 suspects and the seizure of narcotic drugs, aiming to curb rising criminal activity in the area.

(Mukono) – A coordinated security operation involving the Uganda Police Force, Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), intelligence agencies, and local council leaders resulted in the arrest of 36 suspects in Mukono District on October 31, 2024. Conducted in the early hours between 12:00 am and 4:00 am in Kagala Zone, Goma Division, the operation targeted areas identified as hotspots for narcotics use and sales.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango stated that the operation responded to a series of public complaints regarding increased robberies in Mukono. Reports indicated that armed gangs had been preying on individuals, especially nighttime workers suspected of carrying cash and valuables.

The joint security team focused on areas with a known history of drug related activity, arresting individuals believed to be involved in the sale and use of narcotics. In the course of the operation, authorities confiscated various narcotic substances, including marijuana, from several locations within the Kagala Zone.




The arrested individuals are currently detained at Goma Police Station, where they await screening and potential prosecution. Onyango assured that the security forces plan to continue such intelligence led operations to address crime in the region, enhance public safety, and maintain security.
