Unidentified Male Found Dead in Lira, Murder Suspected

SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) for North Kyoga Region, has issued a statement regarding the suspected murder of an unidentified individual. The body was discovered tied in a sack and dumped along the road in Lira-City West Division.

SP Okema confirmed that the territorial police command in Lira-City West Division is actively investigating the suspected murder of an unidentified individual. The body was found dumped in the Jinja Camp ‘B’ cell, located in Lira-City West Division, Lira City.

The report was lodged with the police by Odaga Vincent, aged 45, the LC1 of Jinja Camp ‘B’ Cell in Lira City West Division. On November 6, 2023, at approximately 07:23 hours, members of the Jinja Camp ‘B’ community in Lira City West Division discovered the deceased person’s body. The individual’s identity has not been established. The body was found tied in a sack and discarded along the road at Jinja Camp. Subsequently, the LC1 Chairman was informed, and a case of the murder of an unidentified person was registered under CRB 990/2023.

A team of police officers, including the Division Police Commander (DPC) of Lira-City West Police, SP Omony, the Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO), and a homicide team, promptly proceeded to the scene. They retrieved the body and transported it to Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

SP Okema remarked that this incident is deeply unfortunate and urged anyone with information relevant to the investigation to come forward and assist the police. Such cooperation is essential for a successful investigation and to ensure justice is served.
