Police in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso district have arrested five suspected members of a machete-wielding gang that had been terrorizing residents of the Kyebando-Kyamuka zone.

The operation followed a series of robberies and attacks by a group of men armed with machetes, particularly during late evening hours.

Nansana police identified the suspects as Dennis Lumbuye, 21; Mudasir Kitandwe, 19, and Imran Muganzi, 19, among others.

Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, SP Luke Owoyesigyire, disclosed that the suspects were found in possession of sharp machetes and Mairungi, a form of marijuana, which were seized as exhibits.

SP Owoyesigyire further mentioned that the police are currently reviewing all recent robbery complaints in Nansana and Wakiso to determine whether this group was involved in these incidents.
