Police in Kampala Metropolitanare investigating an incident where an unidentified man critically injured four children and demanded a ransom of 5 million shillings from their mother.
The incident occurred on Friday, April 29th, 2024, at the residence of Anita Ayebare in Bongole Zone, Ndejje, Makindye Division of Kampala district.
Reports indicate that an unidentified assailant armed with a panga (machete) forced his way into Anita’s house. The mother managed to escape through the gate and raised an alarm, alerting nearby residents.
Realizing his target had fled, the attacker turned his aggression towards the four children, inflicting critical injuries. Police and residents arrived at the scene and attempted to apprehend the suspect, who refused to surrender.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire, the suspect attempted to escape through the ceiling. Officers intervened and shot him, resulting in his death.
Owoyesigire added that the children were rescued alive and rushed to Nalujja Medical Center on Batata Entebbe Road for urgent medical attention. The body of the unidentified assailant was transported to the mortuary for a postmortem examination.
