Residents of Bulalaka village, Sala Parish, Tirinyi sub-county in Kibuku District, eastern Uganda, are gripped by fear following the brutal murder of a man and his wife. The victims, identified as Twaha Namwoyo, 38, and Nasim Katooko, 27, were discovered with multiple deep cuts in their compound, lying in a pool of blood.

The motive behind the gruesome murder remains unclear, prompting a police investigation as they search for the perpetrators who are currently at large. The resurgence of machete attacks in the region has heightened concerns among local leaders and residents.

According to SP Samuel Semewo, the North Bukedi Regional Police Spokesperson, police received information from a district councilor, Charles Namba, regarding the tragic incident. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers found the bodies of the victims and recovered a blood-stained axe and two knives as potential evidence.

Statements from witnesses have been recorded, and the bodies have been transferred to Mbale regional hospital for postmortem examination by the police surgeon.
