According to SCP Enanga Fred, Police Spokesperson, on March 25, 2024, the territorial police in East Kyoga region and Bukedea CPS have initiated a serious search for two brothers, identified as Onenge Andrew and Opio Ivan, residents of Akaramai village, Kamom parish, Bukedea district. The brothers are wanted for the attempted murder of their mother, Asikeit Melidah, and her partner, Omerikol Joseph, after allegedly discovering them in their father’s marital bed.

The incident reportedly occurred on March 20, 2024, when the two siblings returned home around 10 pm to find their mother and her partner already in their father’s house, where they were staying. Angered by this discovery, the brothers armed themselves with pangas and launched a violent attack, leaving their mother and her partner critically injured. Both victims were subsequently rushed to Bukedea Health Centre IV for medical treatment.

SCP Enanga Fred condemned the violent actions of the brothers, emphasizing that such attacks against biological parents are reprehensible and constitute a serious offense. He stressed that mothers deserve respect from their children regardless of the circumstances, and the sons should have sought alternative means to address their concerns rather than resorting to violence. Fred highlighted that the brothers’ actions appeared to be pre-meditated and driven by anger and rage, leading to charges of attempted murder against them.

The police spokesperson urged the sons to bring their grievances to the attention of their father, clan leaders, local elders, women leaders, the church, and the Police Child and Family Protection Unit, rather than resorting to violence. He emphasized the importance of seeking peaceful resolution and intervention from relevant authorities to address familial disputes.
