Police are actively searching for Wyclif Waiswa, the prime suspect in the alleged murder of his wife, Suzan, in Kitintale zone 12, Nakawa Division, Kampala district. Suzan’s lifeless body was discovered on the morning of July 31, 2024, by a neighbor, Rosette Katushabe.
Suzan, who worked as a food vendor and lived with her husband and their two young children, was last seen alive by Katushabe at around 11:00 p.m. on July 30, 2024. At that time, Suzan mentioned that her husband was on his way home from work at a local factory, according to police reports.
The following morning, Katushabe noticed Suzan’s children, Aaron, age 3, and Alvin, age 1.5, playing outside the home unattended. Concerned by the unusual sight, Katushabe entered the house and discovered Suzan’s body in the bedroom.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the details, stating that Katushabe initially inquired about the children’s mother. Aaron told her that Suzan was sleeping. Later in the afternoon, Katushabe’s growing concern led her to investigate further, at which point she found Suzan deceased.
The local council chairman was notified, and the incident was reported to Kitintale Police Station. Officers from Kitintale Police Station, along with a homicide team from Jinja Road Police Division, processed the crime scene. They observed that Suzan had a deep head wound and was found lying in a supine position with blood around her. Her body was subsequently transported to Mulago City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Initial investigations suggest that Suzan may have been murdered by her husband, Waiswa, during the night of July 30, potentially as a result of domestic violence. The police have recovered a suspected murder weapon from the scene.
Statements have been recorded from the landlord, Rosette Katushabe, and the local council chairman. The investigation is ongoing, and police are appealing for anyone with information about Waiswa’s whereabouts to come forward.
