Peter Luzinda | KAMPALA, Uganda — Security agencies operating under the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) have arrested 90 individuals suspected of involvement in various criminal activities following joint operations across Kampala.
Police said the operations targeted suspected criminals involved in robbery, theft, and the illegal narcotics trade within the Kampala Metropolitan area.
The coordinated security crackdown, conducted on Thursday, was part of an ongoing campaign to dismantle criminal groups that have been linked to insecurity in parts of the city.
During the raids, security teams reportedly recovered suspected narcotics and several items believed to have been stolen from members of the public.
Police officials confirmed that the suspects are being held at different police stations as investigations continue.
Authorities have encouraged the public to support law enforcement efforts by sharing information that can help identify and apprehend individuals involved in crime.
KMP emphasized that similar security operations will continue in order to safeguard residents and maintain law and order across the metropolitan area.
